You have a choice. Either we weld your lungs to your chest cavity so that you can breathe, but that will be permanent and you will die within a year; or you can wait to have both your lungs transplanted, which may never happen and if it does, you are likely to die before you ever get it...
At the age of 21 Emily Thackray had to wait at least 18 months for a double lung transplant, and with less than a year to live, she focused on raising awareness to save other people with great success.
In 2008 Emily registered her campaign, 'Live life then Give Life,' as a charity and in 2009 it was voted Best New Charity of the Year in the Charity Times Awards.

The Brief
The Concept
The Strategy
Each year, 1000 people in the UK die awaiting an organ transplant due to the desperate shortage of organ donors. Although many people agree with organ donation only a small percentage of those people actually go on to sign the register and let their families know. The brief was to produce a video to enter as one of Channel 4's 3 minute wonders to encourage people to sign the register.
We decided to tell a personal story focusing on the life of Emily Thackray. Emily is an outstanding and inspiring young lady who not only came very close to death due to a lack of organ donors in the UK, but also went on to set up her own award-winning charity to help those in her position. She was the perfect person to capture the audience's attention and show that amazing things can be done by amazing people; a subliminal message suggesting that the viewer can do amazing things too by signing the register.
We chose to make the film extremely hard-hitting and even though Emily was telling a past story, it was important to make the film immediate and emotionally current. We also chose to focus on the human side that everyone can relate to rather than Emily's condition.
